Our firm saw more partnership break-ups in 2008 than any other year do to the financial and real estate crash. Anyone who says a partnership is not like a marriage has not seen a break-up and how similar it is to a divorce. There are no children, but if there were the former spouses would squabble over them just as they do with the business’ petty assets. Accordingly, a successful partnership and even a successful failure (pardon the oxymoron), requires to look at it as a marriage. Treat your partner with open communication and allow the arguments make your business stronger.
